Brian Cantrell is a graphic designer born and raised in Massachusetts. He spent five years as a student at Northeastern University (the length of the program at the time) learning beyond the classroom while on co-operative education internships with Boston Magazine and Second Nature, a sustainability nonprofit. He was an active member of the student body working with the Council for University Programs, where he was co-President and Head of Major Events planning large and small scale events around campus, and with Tastemakers Music Magazine, where he contributed to the magazine as a designer, writer, and photographer.

After graduating cum laude from Northeastern University in 2013, he returned to Second Nature for two years. During this time, he designed and organized a five year retrospective brochure for the company, overhauled the visual design of their monthly newsletter to a modern and interactive approach, and worked on event collateral from wayfinding signage to program booklets. Stepping away from Second Nature, Brian next worked as a freelance designer for two years while taking some time to travel and spend time with family.

While learning a lot from these experiences of running an independent business, he returned to Northeastern University in the summer of 2017 to find more direct mentorship and grow as a member of a team rather than an individual designer. For the next seven years, Brian worked alongside an award winning team that was responsible for materials to advertise the university to prospective students. He worked on materials for every audience — pre-college, Undergraduate, Bachelor’s Completion, Graduate Students, and other unique first year admitted student programs. He worked on a wide variety of materials from print materials like direct mail marketing, brochures, one pagers, and out of home campaigns, to digital products like e-books, web ads, and social media marketing.
